Heads of State and Government will come together to address the prevention and control of NCDs worldwide at the 2011 High-level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the Prevention and Control of NCDs between 19-20 September 2011 in New York.

■ December 2006 - United Nations General Assembly adopts resolution 61/225, encouraging Member States to develop national policies for the prevention, treat- ment and care of diabetes.
■ 8 May 2010 - The United Nations General Assembly, at its sixty-fourth session, unanimously adopts resolu- tion 64/265 on the prevention and control of NCDs.
■ November 2010 - The note by the Secretary-General transmitting the report by the Director-General on the global status on NCDs, with a particular focus on the developmental challenges faced by developing coun- tries is discussed on 23 November 2010 at the United Nations General Assembly (document A/65/362).
